However, after years and years of gigging in the real world, we have surmised from experience that even at the lower end of the pricing scale, you definitely get what you pay for. When you bear in mind that you're using a guitar strap to hang an expensive instrument on, the quality of manufacture becomes even more important.A heavy nylon makes for a stronger strap. Real leather ends last way longer than imitation leather. Ideally you should look for a couple of lines of stitching where the leather end is stitched to the nylon webbing part of the strap.
